FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Galium boreale, Galium verum, lady's bedstraw

Galium verum; A common sight during summer on Iceland is the Lady's Bedstraw. This yellow-flowered herb with whorled leaves is easily recognized by any layman. It grows on all dryer soils except for the most unforgiving highlands of central Iceland.
It is a member of the Madder family (Rubiaceae).
