FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Veronica fructans, rock speedwell

Veronica fructans; the rock speedwell is one of many speedwell species on Iceland. This species can be found commonly on dry and gravelly soils. The red ring in between the blue and white parts of the inside of the flower is characteristic for this species and sets it apart from other speedwells growing on dry soils. It is a member of the figwort family (Scrophulariaceae).
