FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Achillea millefolium, yarrow

Achillea millefolium; The Yarrow is a common plant of drier soils. It often grows along roadsides and other areas influenced by human activities. It also grows more or less commonly in heather vegetations. The finely featherly shaped leaves are characteristic. The flowerheads resemble single flowers but are in fact a group of flowers (family trait). It is considered to be a beneficial herb both for human health products and in bio-dynamic agriculture.
It is member of the Compositae (syn.: Asteraceae) family, i.e. daisy family.
