BIRDS OF ICELAND starling, Sturnus vulgaris

Sturnus vulgaris; the starling are found mainly in the south-western region of Iceland but there are also reports of succesfull breeding starlings in Akureyri, northern Iceland. It settled relatively recently on Iceland. The first noted breeding pair dates back from 1940. It is an opportunist readily to exploit human wastes but also make well use of what the natural environment offers.
