Viola canina; The Heath Dog Violet is similar to the northern and alpine marsh violets. One can however, easily recognize the heath dog viola by its elliptical shaped leaves compared to the basically round shaped leaves of the two other species. It is common except for the desert regions of Iceland. It grows in relatively dry conditions.
