Veronica scutellata; The Marsh Speedwell grows on wet soils, sometimes even submerged in water befor this dries up in summer. Basically it can be found in a broad band along the coast of the island. As a speedwell with blue flowers it can be easily identified from other speedwells by the lanceolate leaves.
Traditionally speedwell species have been classified in the figwort family (Scrophulariaceae) but recently they have been included in the plantain family (Plantaginaceae). The Icelandic name of this species is SkriĆ°rdepla.
