FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Subularia aquatica, Awlwort, Alurt

Subularia aquatica; The Awlwort is small plantlet that grows on (regularly inundated) mud soils. On Icleand it is rather common where fresh and brackish (coastal regions) mud soils occur. The leaves are needle shaped. The flowers and silicle fruits show it is a member of the Cabbage (= Mustard) family (Brassicaceae = Cruciferae). The Icelandic name of this species is Alurt.
