FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Prunella vulgaris, Selfheal

Prunella vulgaris; Selfheal grows in many coastal and near-coastal regions wherever conditions for plant growth are relatively favorable. Apparently it grows in the warmer regions of Iceland and elsewhere on thermally warmed grounds. As a member of the mint family it can best be recognized by the reddish bracts on the terminal inflorescences. The colour of the flowers are either blue or pink.
It is member of the mint family (Labiatae).
