FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Potentilla crantzii, alpine cincefoil

Potentilla crantzii; the alpine cincefoil is typically a plant of dry grasslands and open heathers. It is widespread but lacking in the highland deserts north and west of Vatnajökull. From a distance this plant - when fully in bloom - resembles a buttercup.
It is a member of the Rose family: Rosaceae.
