FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Cirsium arvense, Creeping Thistle

Cirsium arvense; The Creeping Thistle is an introduced weedy species. On Iceland it can thus be found near human settlements, dump places (road sides) etc. It flowers late in summer with purple flowers.
It is a member of the Asteraceae family (= Compositae ), the daisy family. The Icelandic name of this species is ├×istill.
