FLORA OF ICELAND elements: Cassiope hypnoides, cassiope

Cassiope hypnoides; cassiope characteristically grows on snow beds and moist areas, usually in the higher parts of Iceland. The white bell-shaped flowers in combination with the moss-like trailing leafy stems makes this species easily recognizable.
It is a member of the Heath family (Ericaceae).
